Leading player in the provision of news feeds and Internet press cuttings is looking for a Systems Administrator* Perl Programmer; this is a dual function role, the primary responsibility will be acquiring familiarity with the company`s systems, you will perform all maintenance required to achieve uptime and performance targets. Once you have mastered these responsibilities you will assist the Head of IT in designing and developing new software to enhance and expand the company`s services. This is a major opportunity for a bright individual to gain experience in software design, development and systems administration. A minimum of 4 years commercial experience is required which must cover the following: OO programming and design, Perl programming including OO Perl, Internet*web development CGI, TCP*IP, FTP, HTTP, (D) HTML, XML and JavaScript. You will also have at least 2 years SQL database design*software development*tuning, preferably using MySQL and 2 years C*C++ programming. On the Systems Administration side: at least 2 years experience of administering a Linux based TCP*IP network (preferably under Debain) including installation, set-up and maintenance of Linux servers, experience of security principles and technologies and experience of using them in securing Linux systems, Windows 98*2000 installation, configuration and maintenance on stand alone desktops – in addition you will have a strong grasp of PC architecture.
